Community Mentor

Hello! My name is Denise Wenzel, MS. I am a community mentor with Seasons Counseling and have served as a parent mentor and as a mentor for children. I received my bachelor’s degree in secondary education from UW-Madison with a focus on Spanish and received my master’s in education from Viterbo University. I was a single parent and enjoyed raising my children and through them and my husband, I have the gift of additional stepchildren and many grandchildren. I believe in parenting with positivity. As a parent and a Christian, I see discipline as a form of disciple-ing which is simply another word for mentoring and teaching. I believe that we parents are our children’s greatest role models and mentors. I believe that what they see us do, how they see us behave, and what they see us value is often what they imitate and gravitate toward as they grow and mature. I believe that there is value in discovering as much about ourselves as we are able to discover through written self-testing, counseling with others, and other means of self-discovery. I believe there is value in expanding our horizons and experiences to better get to know our strengths and weaknesses and to better know our capacity to learn new things and enjoy new adventures. I believe that while life is serious, life can also be fun if we look for fun and pursue it.
