Hi! I'm Valerie Rung, MA, LPC. I'm a licensed professional counselor currently serving as an outpatient therapist and providing therapy through the Community Comprehensive Support Program (CCS). I hold a master's degree in Forensic Psychology, and my professional path has been shaped by a deep commitment to helping individuals navigate life's challenges with clarity, resilience, and self-compassion. My background includes work in both private practice and community mental health settings, where I've supported clients experiencing crisis, trauma, anxiety, depression, relational struggles, and significant life transitions. I also have experience within the justice system, which has shaped a trauma-informed, systems-aware perspective in my clinical work. As a therapist, I use a person-centered and holistic approach that integrates evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and mindfulness-based techniques. In my CCS role, I work alongside clients to build life skills, increase independence, and access the community-based resources they need to thrive. I am proudly LGBTQ+ inclusive and committed to creating a welcoming, affirming space for people of all identities and backgrounds. My therapeutic philosophy is grounded in the belief that people are doing the best they can with the tools they've had access to - and that meaningful growth begins when we make space for curiosity, compassion, and connection. I see therapy as a collaborative process rooted in safety, respect, and empowerment. Outside of my professional role, I'm someone who values creativity, humor, and finding ways to remain grounded. I believe in showing up as a real person in the therapy room, and I strive to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. Whether you are looking for a therapist or simply exploring your options, I'm glad you're here - and I'd be honored to walk with you on your journey.
